Leadership Trainers, Eileen and Tim Guile
My now deceased husband and I bought a set of matching Gold Wings in April 1987 and the same day sent in our applications for GWRRA, wanting to be a part of a group that rode sensibly. That makes me a life member and I rode for 24 years on two wheels and just this year had my bike triked. I love it because I no longer have to worry about sand and gravel and where I am parked. In the early years I was Assistant Area Representative and Treasurer for many years.
After Tim and I met, I told him I really did not want to give up riding so he started riding in 2003. After attending several rallies and attending the Horizon program we decided that we would like to become trainers. We were certified as instructors at the 2010 NY/NJ Bi-State Convention and moved up to NY District trainers in 2011. We have been Treasurers for NY-N (Saratoga Springs) for many years and have been the Couple of the Year for 2010 and 2011. This year at the NY/NJ Bi-State Convention we were chosen as the New York District Couple of the Year for 2011/2012.
We are now Senior Instructors in Leadership Training and are also Officer Certification Program trainers. Tim is a certified MFA/CPR instructor and I am a Rider Educator Seminar presenter. We are also inexperienced bike judges. I am a Level 4 rider and Tim is a Level 3 rider and we strong believers in the Rider Education program.
Between us we have four boys. My son who followed his mother into telephony lives southeast of Albany and has a son whom we call Mr. B who is four. Tim has three sons; one is a teacher who lives in Fall River, MA; another is currently in the process of moving to Arizona; and the last lives with his wife in Boulder, CO and they have a daughter Phoebe who will be two who we don’t get to see often enough.
Five long-hair dachshunds let us live in the house with them; a mini black and tan (Honey Bear) who is 14, a mini cream (Tiger Lily) who is 10; a tweenie pie-bald (looks like Snoopy – Jazmine) who is 6; a tweenie chocolate and tan (Daisy) who is 5 and last but not least a standard silver dapple (Oscar Mayer Weasel) who is 4.
I am the “nerd” of the two being an electrical engineer, a Project Management Professional (PMP) and a Six Sigma Black Belt. I currently work for AT&T and also teach a college course for Empire State College. A few years ago Tim quit his job with Freihofer’s because he had to work every weekend. When he quit, we were able to able to ride together and attend GWRRA events and get involved with the people. Tim is a union carpenter and currently works for Old Dominion Freight Lines and can fix anything.
Since we have gotten involved with GWRRA we have met so many wonderful people and made so many lifetime friends.
